Formation for the journey

Our spiritual formation as followers of Jesus Christ involves growing on the inward journey of individual spiritual growth and on the collective outward journey of mission and social justice.

We are called to grow in every dimension of our lives as Christ’s disciples: in daily work, home and family life, devotional practices, spiritual direction, home discipleship groups, and more.

Growing disciples at every stage of life

Children
• Bible study, FaithQuest Sunday School, discipleship classes, children’s camp, nursery, preschool classes, special events, Playdates on the Playground, picnics, and outings

Youth
• Bible study, Sunday evening activities, retreats, summer mission trips, drama, outings, mission service opportunities

Young Adults
(20s and 30s)
• Monday evening supper and Bible study in a home, retreats, socials, community missions

Families
• Parents’ nights out, family retreats

Adults
• Bible study, silent retreats, drama, music, art classes

50, More or Less (senior adults)
• Bible study, day trips, potluck lunches, mission action

Recreation and fellowship
One of the ways we get to know and support each other is through relaxing times of recreation, fellowship, and social activities. Our recreational opportunities, which are intergenerational and coed, bring us all together. Visitors are always welcome!
• Softball—Our team plays in a recreational league from late spring through mid-summer.
• 50, More or Less

• Women's Coffee meets at 7:30-9:00 p.m. on the first Monday of each month for fellowship and relaxation in a church member's home

• Men's Fellowship meets at 7:15-9:00 p.m. on the third Monday of each month for fellowship and a discussion or short study

Retreats at Lost River Retreat Center
Early in our history, camping and retreating became an important part of Vienna Baptist Church’s life and ministry. In 1980, we acquired the 43-acre Lost River Retreat Center in the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia.

VBC ministries at LRRC include regular weekend experiences for various age groups: youth retreats, summer children’s camp, family camping, young adults, leadership planning, and adult silent retreats.

We also offer camping experiences to inner-city youth in cooperation with the Johenning Baptist Community Center, a ministry of the D.C. Baptist Convention. Lost River Retreat Center also provides its facilities at an affordable cost to numerous other groups for conferences and seminars, couples’ retreats, children’s camps, youth retreats, planning retreats, and reunions.
